Reading through the Bible Week 42

This is not meant to be a beating, but rather a tool to give you some help in reading and understanding God’s word.  If you miss a day, and can “catch up: by doubling up, then sweet.  If you can’t read on certain days, adjust the schedule to fit your life.  I think you will find the schedule pretty easy to maintain if you keep just a bit of discipline.

Sunday: Isaiah 46 – 48
Monday: Isaiah 49 – 52

Summary:
Monday: Isaiah 1 – 3
Isaiah 1 recounts the rebellion of Judah and God’s coming judgment.  Chapter 2 exalts God’s reign over all the earth.  Chapter 3 reminds of the coming judgment and the work God will do.
Tuesday: Isaiah 4 – 6
Chapter 4 offers encouragement by pointing to a faithful remnant.  Chapter 5 uses a vineyard parable to teach of God’s work toward Judah.  Chapter 6 recounts the calling of Isaiah.
Wednesday: Isaiah 7 – 10
Chapter 7 records some history (war) and promises a child to be born. (Note: This is a prophecy to the people of Isaiah’s day as well as future generations.  The virgin of Isaiah 7 was for Ahaz, as well as Mary.)  Isaiah 8 warns nations of their coming doom before reminding of the faithful remnant.  Chapter 9 is another prophecy of a coming ruler who will bring peace while also reminding of God’s judgment.  Chapter 10 shows how Assyria (a pagan nation) is an instrument of God’s justice, before again reminding of the faithful remnant.
Thursday: Isaiah 11 – 13
Isaiah 11 points to a future king from David’s line who will rule rightly when the remnant is restored.  Chapter 12 is a praise of God, giving thanks to Him.  Isaiah 13 prophecies to Babylon and warns of the coming judgment of God.
Friday: Isaiah 14 – 17
Chapter 14 points to a future day when Israel is increased and the oppressors are rebuked.  Isaiah 15 – 17 are prophecies against foreign nations.
Saturday: Isaiah 18 – 20
Chapters 18 – 20 continue Isaiah’s dealing with foreign nations and delivering God’s message to them.
Sunday: Isaiah 21 – 24
Chapter 21 prophecies the fall of Babylon.  Chapter 22 is the oracle of the valley of vision.  Chapter 23 predicts the fall of Tyre.  Isaiah 24 warns of coming judgment.
